Relocating to Central Texas

Moving to Texas | Reasons to Move to TexasWhy do so many people want to move to Texas? Maybe because Texas is the 9th largest economy among the nations of the world and offers a business-friendly climate—with no corporate or personal income tax—along with a highly skilled workforce, easy access to global markets, robust infrastructure and predictable regulations.

More than 500,000 people have relocated to Texas in 2019 according to a 2021 Texas Relocation Report. Texas has welcomed more than 200,000 residents from outside the country in 2019 as well. Not long ago Austin made headlines because 110 people a day were moving into the city.

It seems a large percentage of folks has either moved to, or at least considered moving to Texas in the last 10 years. Tesla founder Elon Musk made news by moving from California to Texas and recently announced he’s also moving Tesla’s headquarters here. Actually the fastest growing areas of Texas are the suburbs outside of Austin. Record numbers of people are moving to Cedar Park, Leander, Hutto, Georgetown and Kyle.

The overall population growth in Central Texas has created a lower inventory of homes and land. The Central Texas real estate market is a good indicator of how active our area is right now. The monthly residential inventory continues to be well below average, days on market are low and homes are selling close to list price or even higher.

Reasons to Move to Texas

  • Great Weather

Most of the state has mild weather, almost throughout the year. This makes it easy to enjoy the outdoors and the Central Texas lakes and rivers. The state’s overall mild weather is a big draw for people living in places with long and cold weather.

  • No State Income Tax

There are seven states in the US, including Texas, where there is no personal state income tax. There are tax incentives for businesses as well.

  • Jobs

Texas has always proven to be an economic powerhouse with it’s strong growth in business services, manufacturing, healthcare and the technology sector. People moving to Central Texas aren’t just moving for more employment opportunities but also for higher wages. Businesses are relocating here because Texas offers a high number of university graduates.

  • Education

The education scores are high in national tests in math, science, and reading for 4th and 8th graders. For instance, in 8th-grade math, Texas students scored higher than the national average. They outscored the students from Florida, New York, and California. Texas also offers affordable, top ranked universities.

  • Real Estate Affordability

Homes are most likely cheaper. The process of land ownership is easy. The time required, compared to many other states, is much less, from when you get the building permit to the construction of your home. Texas has fewer regulations. The land supply is also abundant and housing is also affordable.

  • Cost of Living

For most people, California and New York are both too expensive. Central Texas, on the other hand, can be much cheaper to live in. So your paycheck will go much more here. Austin and it’s suburbs has a low cost of living, thanks to the lower transport and utility costs, consumer prices, and housing.

  • Texas Outdoors

Texas offers year-round activities like biking, hiking, and running. The Texas Hill Country is a big draw in Central Texas. There’s also large outdoor spaces and parks in the Austin area and it’s suburbs. There are museums, zoos, lakes, rivers, aquariums, dance, theater, wineries, orchestras, fine dining, parks and much more. Central Texas also hosts many events and festivals throughout the year.

Don’t Make a Move Without the TxDMV

The TxDMV understands moving is stressful and they want to help you to protect yourself. That’s why they say “Don’t Make A Move Without Us!” By law, Texas moving companies must be licensed with the TxDMV. If you hire one that isn’t, you are putting you and your belongings at risk.

The lowest priced quote to move may not be the best deal – especially those offered on the Internet. You could fall prey to a dishonest moving company that may demand more money to unload your possessions or fails to show up for delivery.

Before you hire a mover, first check out Truck Stop, a database that can tell you whether a company is licensed with the TxDMV. A licensed Texas mover will have an “Active” TxDMV certificate number on file.
