A Few Texas Hill Country Activities
The Edwards Plateau region includes an area of Central Texas commonly known as the Texas Hill Country. The Texas Parks and Wildlife defines the Texas Hill Country area as a twenty five county region in Central Texas (see map below). The Texas Hill Country is scenic and one of the most unique and diverse parts of Texas, with its many springs, rolling hills, lakes & rivers, rugged terrain, steep canyons and lush green pastures. This region is also home to a host of rare plants and animals not found anywhere else on earth.
Most areas of the Hill Country have their own unique heritage, culture, attractions and offer a wide variety of fun things to see and experience. Activities can range from hunting, exploring caves, boating, rock climbing to tubing the rivers or listening to live music, all while enjoying the hill country views.
The Texas Hill Country Wine Trail or Tours currently includes numerous local wineries that are scattered throughout the Hill Country, from Austin to Fredericksburg and Lampasas to New Braunfels. While on the wine trail visitors can also enjoy Texas Hill Country vineyard tours, musicians, artist, restaurants, entertainers, crafts and of course great Texas wine.

Some of the most popular lakes include Lake Buchanan, Lake LBJ, Inks Lake and Lake Travis in Burnet and Travis Counties.
